Wear Your Roots is a cultural family workshop that brings heritage to life through design. Every family carries a story. This is where you turn it into something you can wear.
What happens in a session
You learn how patterns are built, then create your own from scratch. Each family designs a motif that means something. Draw from a tradition you carry, or create something new, built on what your family stands for.
Families share their design and its story with the room. Then you bring your motif onto a t-shirt or tote bag and paint it.
You do not need to be artistic. You will leave knowing how to create patterns of your own, long after the session ends.
Who is this for
Any family that wants to explore where they come from through making something together. Grandparents, parents, and kids of all ages. Whether your roots go back generations in one place or stretch across continents, this cultural family workshop gives you a way to honour that story with your hands.
Why it matters
Culture gets passed down through stories, food, and traditions. But most of those moments happen without anyone noticing. Wear Your Roots makes it intentional. You sit down together, talk about what your family stands for, and build a symbol out of it. When your child wears that symbol, someone asks about it. And every time they answer, they carry your family’s story forward.
